Structuring Reits For Investment by Sovereign Wealth Funds and Other Non-U.S. Governmental Investors: Tax Issues and Considerations
Thursday, September 1, 2011

Learn about tax rules and constraints raised when Foreign Governments and Sovereign Wealth Funds invest in U.S. REITs

Presented by experienced tax practitioner, Robert Le Duc, J.D., LL.M., this two-hour CPE webinar will review the federal tax issues raised by REITs in general, and specific tax concerns that arise when REITs are utilized by this important and tax-sensitive class of non-U.S. governmental investors.

The discussion will provide an analysis of the primary tax provisions applicable to REITs, and the tax rules governing sovereign wealth funds and other non-U.S. governmental investors.  The presentation will provide valuable insight into how REIT investment structures are impacted by these governmental investors' special tax concerns and constraints.

The discussion will also cover appropriate classification of non-U.S. investors as a "foreign government," the availability of the powerful and broad "Section 892" exemption from U.S. taxation, and various traps for the unwary raised by these tax rules. All tax professionals in public practice or in industry involved with REITs will benefit from this timely and insightful seminar. Time will be provided for you to ask questions directly to Mr. Le Duc via phone or email during the program. Click here for more information and to access the TIAG Online Registration Form (exclusive 20% discount).
